  • Sunday, September 14, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Tour and Salsa Dance in the Garden

    Join Berkshire Botanical Garden for some food and drink, followed by a tour in Spanish using our audio guide app on your phone on Sunday, September 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. Luana Dias David will begin a salsa dance lesson and party inside the Education Center after the tour. Admission is free, registration is encouraged (below).

    Luana Dias David is a Brazilian performing artist, choreographer and cultural educator whose work bridges tradition and innovation in Afro-Latin dance. Born in São Paulo, she carries over 20 years of international experience, performing and teaching across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Her artistry is deeply rooted in the rhythms of Samba, Capoeira and Latin dance, shaped by her training in classical ballet, jazz and breakdancing.

  • Friday, June 22 – Sunday, June 24 – The Newport Flower Show: Salsa! – A Celebration of Latin Cultures

    Enjoy the heat of Salsa – exotic plants and colorful designs, inspired by the fusion of Latin Music and dance, at the 2012 Newport Flower Show at Rosecliff in Newport June 22 – June 24.

    All proceeds from the Newport Flower Show are dedicated to the ongoing restoration and maintenance of The Preservation Society of Newport County’s 88 acres of gardens and landscapes. Each day of the 2012 Newport Flower Show offers guests opportunities to enjoy judged horticultural specimens and floral designs, special garden exhibitions, free lectures and demonstrations, as well as wonderful shopping experiences in both the Oceanside Boutiques and the Gardeners’ Marketplace. Tickets are also available for special luncheons, lectures and workshops.

    Free parking and shuttle bus service will be provided to the Newport Flower Show from the Newport Grand parking lot on Admiral Kalbfus Boulevard.  Group rates are available for organized groups of at least 20 persons for $14 per person each day of The Newport Flower Show.     Join The Esplanade Association and World Rhythms Dance and Fitness this Thursday on the Esplanade in front of the Hatch Shell for FREE dance instruction and open dance. This week’s featured dance style is SWING!

    Weekly Dance Program Features:

    • Professional dance instructors
    • Different dance style each week
    • Free dance instruction followed by open dance
    • Great for children and adults of all ages
