    Join Erin Hammes, Plant Records and Production Horticulturist at Native Plant Trust on December 7 from 1 – 2:30 for this native seed sowing workshop. Learn about our native seeds and then get your hands in the soil to sow some seeds that you can take home. The class will be held at Long Hill in Beverly, a Trustees of Reservations property. $26 for NPT members, $30 for nonmembers.     Explore the basic principles underlying successful, environmentally friendly gardening, including the structure and physiological processes of plants and their relationships to the settings in which they grow. Students learn not only what to do, but why. Topics include soils and their improvement, seed sowing, vegetative propagation, planting, pruning, watering, weeding, mulching, and disease and pest control. This online New York Botanical Garden class takes place January 5 – February 9 from 6 – 8, and is taught by Daryl Beyers. NYBG members $295, nonmembers $325. Register at www.nybg.org.   • Thursday, March 22, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm – Rev Up For Spring: Seed Sowing, Growing and More

    The groundhog has spoken. It’s time to start the garden. On Thursday, March 22 in the Parkman Room of Elm Bank, 900 Washington Street in Wellesley, flower farmer Evelyn Lee of Lovin’ Fresh Flowers will introduce you to an array of flowers you can grow for your next arrangement or simply to enjoy in your garden.
