  • Wednesday, August 26, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Totally Tomatoes Cooking Class

    It’s tomato season on Powisset Farm in Dover. Come learn new and creative recipes using farm-fresh tomatoes. Led by a PowissetCooks! instructor, participants will get to learn ways to prep and cook these delicious red (and orange….and yellow) beauties. The class will take place August 26 from 6 – 8, and is $64 for Trustees members, $80 for nonmembers.

    Included in this class:

    • Cooking demonstration and partially hands-on learning experience.
    • Instruction from an experienced, top-notch instructor.
    • Recipes to take home.
    • A meal to enjoy on-site or to take with you.

    Class is limited to 8 participants to allow for social distancing within the classroom space. Pre-registration is required 2 days prior to a class or event.   • Saturday, August 22, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm – Sunflower Centerpiece Tutorial

    From stem to vase, learn the skills to assemble a summer-inspired centerpiece fresh from our garden with a seasonal favorite, sunflowers. Whether these sunflowers are from your garden or from your local market, learn how to create a beautiful centerpiece that will be the essence of fresh summer blooms to feel like you have brought the garden inside your home. During this August 22 workshop at Stevens Coolidge Place in North Andover from 1 – 3, participants will learn step-by-step instructions by a Trustees staff member to learn how to assemble their very own Sunflower Centerpiece to reflect the summer season.

    In this workshop, participants will learn:

    • Step-by-step centerpiece construction techniques
    • Choosing the correct floral supplies and vessels
    • Understanding colors and fundamental ingredients
    • Understanding basic floral design fundamentals

  • Saturday & Sunday, August 15 & 16, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm – Landscape Tour: The Historic Gardens of Castle Hill

    Come explore the gardens and curated landscape of Castle Hill in Ipswich on August 15 and 16. Tours leave every hour on the half hour, last tour at 3:30 pm. This socially distanced outdoor tour of the grounds walks you through the history of the property, the thought behind the gardens and the Grand Allee, and how the Crane family interacted with it all.

    Pricing is per family group – no more than 4 people per family. Masks required.

    Tours are booked to coincide with a timed parking pass for Castle Hill, which is included in the cost. Your ticket for this tour includes up to 3 hours at Castle Hill (including your tour).     With this fun skillbuilding program sponsored by The Trustees on August 7 from 3 – 4, you will first pick up your class materials at Naumkeag in Stockbridge. In the comfort of your own home, you will follow along on Zoom with Horticulture Manager Catherine Martini and others as they teach the fine art of arranging flowers.   • Wednesday, July 22, 11:00 am – 12:00 noon – Herb Salts and Sugars Webinar

    Spending more time cooking from home or enjoying your garden? Join beloved gardener, herb grower and cook, Betsy Williams and the Stevens-Coolidge Place to learn the secret to growing, using and preserving savory herbs to enhance your daily meals.

    During this new online offering, Betsy will explore the following topics in a 45-minute webinar presentation followed by a Q&A moderated by Trustees staff. On July 22 from 11 – noon, Betsy will discuss herb salts and sugars.

    Betsy Williams teaches, lectures and writes about living with herbs and flowers. A gardener and herb grower since 1972, Betsy trained as a florist in Boston and England. She combines her floral and gardening skills with an extensive knowledge of history, plant lore and seasonal celebrations. Betsy is the author of several books on the uses and stories of herbs and flowers. She has appeared on the Discovery Channel and greater Boston cable stations as well as local and national radio talk shows. Betsy lectures and teaches locally and nationally.

  • Thursdays, beginning June 25, 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm – Afternoon Garden Live Stream

    Looking for a relaxing afternoon but can’t get to the Stevens-Coolidge Place gardens in person? Tune into Facebook Live every Thursday at 3pm to enjoy a live stream of our gardens. Each week we’ll setup a camera in new location to spot chirping birds, nibbling bunnies and of course flowers!

  • Saturday, June 6, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Pickup, 6:30 – 8:00 pm Virtual Dinner

    The Boston Community Gardens team wants to bring the taste of spring to you in your homes! We have curated a vegetarian menu featuring some of the best early spring treats – tender greens, herbs, vegetables, and flowers.

    On Saturday, June 6th, you come pick up your bundle of ingredients, at the SW Corridor Community Garden in JP*. That evening, you will be invited to a live Zoom cooking class where we prepare the menu together.

    Menu:

    • Violet syrup soda (can be made into a cocktail)
    • Farrow salad with assorted garden fresh micro greens, spring roots, feta, and chive blossom vinaigrette
    • Spring vegetable frittata
    • Blossom shortbread and foraged floral tea

    Staples required: cooking oil, milk/yogurt (dairy or non dairy), salt & pepper

  • Wednesday, May 13, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm – Intro to Container Gardening Online

    There’s no better time to learn how to grow your own food at home.
    Container gardening is a great way to grow food if you have limited space, or aren’t sure about the quality of your backyard soil. In this virtual free workshop, The Trustees will go over the basics of container gardening, offering some ideas of recycled materials that can be used as containers, and the basics of building your own raised bed. We will also review some of the best crops to plant in containers to maximize your harvest.

    There will be a live demonstration and time at the end to ask questions.

  • Thursdays through Sundays, April 23 – May 17, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Naumkeag Daffodil and Tulip Festival – PLEASE CHECK FOR CANCELLATION NOTIFICATION

    Come to Naumkeag in Stockbridge, Massachusetts for this returning springtime tradition!

    The world-renowned gardens at Naumkeag have been planted with over 80,000 daffodil, tulip and other spring bulbs, promising a riot of color. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the arrival of spring in the Berkshires with friends and family. Each weekend will offer a variety of pop-up activities on the grounds for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Admission to the festival includes self-guided access to the grounds and the first floor of the house.

    Food and refreshments will be for sale. Our annual Naumkeag plant sale will be happening throughout the Daffodil and Tulip festival.
