  • Friday – Sunday, August 5 – 7 and August 12 – 14 – Home of Distinction House Tour

    Pecoy Signature Homes is proud to present the Home of Distinction at 10 Uncle Stephens Road, Dennis MA 02670. This extraordinary home will be open to the public two weekends, August 5-7 and August 12-14. Fridays & Saturdays, 10am-4pm and Sundays, 12noon-4pm. While showcasing the latest building products and design trends, the tour will raise funds for two wonderful non-profits. The Thornton Burgess Society and Cape Cod Museum of Natural History will receive 100% of the proceeds from tour ticket sales. Tickets for the tour can be purchased for $15 at the home. Situated on beautiful Uncle Stephens Pond and just steps to West Dennis Beach, this 4,670 sf exclusive, beachside retreat features a bright, expansive, open floor plan great for family gatherings.     The Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival is an annual celebration of the region’s blue, pink, and white signature flowers. The Second Annual Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival is happening this July 8 – 17, and the festival’s schedule is nearly overflowing with fun activities for the entire family. This ten day festival’s main attractions are the daily tours of private gardens, each designed and maintained by the individual homeowners and carrying a unique charm. Enjoy the exploration of gardens with intriguing titles such as, “For the Love of Trees,” “A Peaceful Sanctuary for All Seasons,” and “Where Nature and Nurture Meet.” You are sure to enjoy such eclectic spaces, not to mention the good feeling of supporting a variety of local nonprofits.

    Gardens are only one part of the festival. Enjoy workshops and lectures presented by leading international horticulturalists, discover promotions at participating nurseries and home centers, take a class to learn proper hydrangea pruning techniques, or even watch a painting demonstration by renowned Cape Cod artists both in-studio and in the gardens themselves.

    Garden tours are $5 per person per garden. Each garden is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and only on the days specified. All garden tours are rain or shine and nonrefundable.

    The 34th Annual Herb Festival & Plant Sale at the Green Briar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen in East Sandwich offers an extensive plant sale at the best prices of herbs, perennials, wildflowers, everlastings, annuals and vegetables.

    Also featured are walks through the award-winning wildflower garden and a delightful herb luncheon served on Friday. Luncheon does require advance reservations at $22.

    All proceeds from the plant sale and luncheon benefit the environmental education programs of the Thornton W. Burgess Society and its Green Briar Nature Center. Herb Festival runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10-4 each day. Free admission.     Visit a number of lovely private home gardens in Sandwich at your leisure between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday, July 9, sponsored by the Green Briar Nature Center, 6 Discovery Hill Road, East Sandwich, where the tour begins. Light refreshments will be served overlooking the Wildflower Garden at the Green Briar Nature Center. Tickets are $15 and contain a map and directions to each garden. They may be purchased in advance or on the day of the tour at Green Briar. All proceeds benefit the environmental education programs of the Thornton W.     Visit a number of lovely private home gardens in Sandwich, Massachusetts at your leisure anytime between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday, July 10.  A new dimension is added to this year’s tour. Members of the Pen Women of Cape Cod will be painting and writing poems on site at each garden.  Light refreshments will be served overlooking the Wildflower Garden at Green Briar Nature Center, 6 Discovery Hill Road (off Route 6A) in East Sandwich.

    Tickets to the tour, with a map and directions to each garden, may be purchased in advance or on the day of the tour.  All proceeds benefit the environmental education programs of the Thornton W.   • Tuesdays, June 5 – August 28, 10:00 am – 11:00 am – Guided Wildflower Garden Walks

    Enjoy an informal and informative guided walk along the paths of the award-winning Shirley G. Cross Wildflower Garden on the grounds of the Green Briar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen, 6 Discovery Hill Road (off Route 6A) in East Sandwich. Registration is not necessary for this drop-in program to be held each Tuesday, June 5 – August 28, beginning at 10 am and sponsored by the Thornton W. Burgess Society. The garden, conceived and designed by Dr. Shirley G. Cross (pictured below) is a living museum for those interested in the study and use of wildflowers. The one-third acre contains over 300 plants and is maintained by a small group of dedicated volunteers.
