  • Tuesday, February 4, 7:15 pm – Get Ready for Spring

    February is the perfect time to plan new gardens, research plants, and get organized for the spring planting season. This Walnut Hill Garden Club presentation with Suzanne Mahler on Tuesday, February 4, beginning at 7:15 pm, will cover spring pruning, garden themes, transplanting trees and shrubs, and dividing perennials, plus a Q & A session. In-club expert Suzanne is an avid gardener, photographer and lecturer who has been developing the 1.5-acre property surrounding her home in Hanover for more than 30 years. Her weekly gardening column ‘Green Thumbs Up’ has appeared in GateHouse Media New England newspapers for more than a decade. She is a past president of the New England Daylily Society, an overseer for the Massachusetts Horticultural Society and is employed at a local garden center. Come with questions about your gardening problems and get advice from an expert. The program will be held at the Phoenix Lodge, 133 Broadway, Hanover, Massachusetts.

  • Tuesday, March 6, 7:15 pm – Civic Planting in Hanover, Then and Now

    The Walnut Hill Garden Club presents Sally Muspratt speaking on Civic Planting in Hanover, Then and Now, on Tuesday, March 6 beginning at 7:15 at the Phoenix Masonic Lodge, Broadway, in Hanover, Massachusetts.

    Sally McGuire Muspratt holds a Graduate Certificate in Landscape Design from Radcliffe College (1993), a certificate in Landscape Maintenance from UMass Extension (2002), a B.A. from Harvard and an M.A. from Newnham College, Cambridge. In 2010 she was accredited as an Organic Land Care Professional by the Northeast Organic Farming Association. In 2011, after a rigorous peer review of her portfolio, she was accredited as a Professional Landscape designer by the APLD, the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. Certification #344. She serves on the Boards of the Arboretum Park Conservancy and the Community Outreach Group and on the advisory committees of The Kelleher Rose Garden and the Park Overseers of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy. She also serves on the Grant Committee for Civic Development and Historic Preservation of the Garden Club Federation of MA and on the West Roxbury Main Streets Design Committee. She is past Chairman of the Landscape Design Study Classes and the Landscape Design Council of the National Council of State Garden Clubs and of the Civic Development Committee for the GCF of MA.
