The Castine Historical Society is proud to present the 2026 Castine House & Garden Tour on July 24, 2026 from 10 AM-4 PM, featuring 12 beautiful homes and 3 gracious gardens in the scenic village of Castine.
With history dating back to the 1600’s, Castine has been home to many: Native Americans, French, Dutch, English and Colonial Americans. Castine is named after Baron Jean Vincent de Saint Castin, a French nobleman and officer. Its strategic peninsula location at the mouth of the Penobscot River made it highly desirable. The town once served as the seat of Hancock County, a merchant port for coast trading, and a center for shipbuilding.
With growth and prosperity during the 19th century, grand Federal Georgian, Greek Revival and Victorian style homes were built. These stately homes along with charming summer cottages still grace the shade elm-lined streets.
Castine was rated #1 Best Small Town in the Northeast by USA Today and received recognition as one of the Best Historic Towns and one of the Best Coastal Towns in the US. Castine ranked as Best Small Town in Northeast through USA Today Top 10. We hope you will join us!

Cultivating Community Farm invites you to the Snap Pea Soirée on Saturday, July 25 from 5 – 7 at Brentwood Community Garden in Portland, Maine. The garden party fundraiser celebrates 25 years of supporting food justice in Portland. The Camden Garden Club’s 77th Annual Garden Tour will take place, rain or shine, Thursday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Six distinctive gardens, designed and lovingly maintained by their owners will be showcased. From a sweeping five-acre estate to a charming village garden tucked into the woods, each stop offers inspiration and discovery. It is both a privilege and a pleasure for Club members to share these unique spaces with the community.
Not only are the homes the highlight, but this year, Tour Chairs, Susan Reider and Lynne Meagher welcome Cassie Sano as the En Plein Air Artist. Cassie will be working throughout the day at a designated garden. Raffle tickets for her painting will be available.
Another new aspect to the day will be two garden demonstrations held at one of Camden’s best-kept secrets, a modern barn in the middle of town that sits between an apple orchard, a wooded area, raised dahlia beds, and a wildflower meadow. All ticket holders are invited to enjoy special sessions held during the day. Linda Redmond of Brae Maple Farm and Gabrielle Jansen of Firefox Farm will create beautiful works of art from nature. There will be an additional raffle for the created works. All Raffle proceeds benefit the CGC Scholarship Fund.
Your Tour ticket is your all-access pass to gardens and activities across the day. At each location, a Master Gardener and the homeowners will be pleased to answer questions. The funds raised by the Annual Garden Tour support the Club’s ongoing activities, programs, and mission.
Proceeds enable the Club to provide Camden’s hanging flower baskets in the summer, the holiday wreaths in the winter, maintenance of the Camden Village Green and thirteen civic gardens, a robust scholarship program, an exciting winter Horticulture series as well as many other civic and educational projects. Occurring every other year, the Secret Gardens of the Kennebunks Tour gives town residents and visitors rare access to seven of the most beautiful local gardens in our lovely coastal town. This year’s event to benefit the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library is slated for Saturday, July 11, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This delightful summer activity is one of the library’s most popular events. Gardens tour participants are treated to a wide variety of garden styles and environments amid lovely natural settings from stately mansions to quaint seaside cottages. Volunteers will be located at each garden to help with questions and where to park.
A special Garden Tour Preview Party for garden owners and sponsors will be held at Mélange Home Shop in Lower Village, Kennebunk on Friday, July 10, from 5-7 PM. Mélange is a unique retail shop created by Paula and Clayton Daher, the mother and son duo of Daher Interior Design. Mélange specializes in globally and locally sourced home furnishings. Wine and hors d’ oeuvres will be served.
Flowers and gardens are part of the Graves Library DNA—Kennebunkport artist Abbott Graves (1859-1936), the father of the library’s namesake, was famously known for his spectacular floral paintings.
The Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library, housed in an historic building located near Kennebunkport’s famous Dock Square town center, is a full-service free library whose mission is “to enrich the lives of all we serve.”

This York, Maine garden, which has been evolving over the last 75 years, surrounds and complements a Georgian-style stone house. There are formal and informal borders, a vegetable garden, orchard, and collections of various flowering trees and shrubs. Apples and pears are espaliered on the house and along the walls of the formal front garden. Water features include a pond in the woodland garden, a farm pond with rustic bridge, and the Atlantic Ocean. This treasure is protected by a sculpted arborvitae hedge on the northwest, a mature stand of hickory on the northeast, and an extensive screen of old lilacs on the southeast.
Ongoing projects include expanding the collection of magnolias and rhododendrons, a new shrub border in the old orchard, a woodland walk, a summerhouse with views to the pond and the sea, and the constant refreshing of the front walled garden. For the last 23 years, Sagadahoc Preservation, Inc. (SPI) has annually opened some of Maine’s most beautiful and historic homes and gardens to the public. This year’s tour, to be held on Saturday, June 20, will also feature several of Bath’s historic houses of worship.
From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., attendees are invited to visit private gardens and historic homes and buildings, featuring many of the city’s striking architectural styles including Federal, Greek Revival and Italianate.
A self-guided map allows participants the opportunity to tour the properties at their leisure, and the Montsweagers musical group will be on hand performing live.
All proceeds go to support SPI and its mission of preserving and protecting Bath’s architectural heritage, and in particular the iconic and historic Winter Street Center.
Advance tickets are $40 for this rain or shine event ($45 the day of the tour) and may be purchased until June 18 on-line.
