  • Wreath of the Day – Fake News

Well, at least Fake Wreaths.  Occasionally we are called on to decorate an artificial wreath to hang in a building where fire laws prohibit live greenery.  The wreath below is an example of a design done on a high quality non-biodegradable ring of plastic, bow chosen by client, decorations chosen by the designer.  We are flexible.

  • Wreath of the Day – Tan, Gold and Green

We received an extremely generous order for six fully decorated wreaths from our friends at The Lenox Hotel.  The colors specified were tan, green and gold – a sophisticated choice, but by wreath number six our decorators’ creative juices were drying up. Subsequently we were told that indeed we could have exercised decorator’s choice options, but too late – a half dozen wreaths were done, each different but all in the original color scheme.

  • Wreath of the Day – Cheerful Mood

2016 has not been the best year for many of us, and in the spirit of looking on the bright side, we created an exuberant look with glittery pears, vivid green and red bow, pine cones and glass balls, for retired music teachers who were very excited to receive it. The wreath brought a smile to everyone’s face.

  • Wreath of the Day – Foreign Affairs

We had another first this year – an order came in from Switzerland.  At first we thought we would have to explain our inability to ship our fragile creations at a reasonable price, but then discovered the buyer was purchasing the wreath as a gift for her son, who worked in Boston.  That is what we call good mothering.  She asked us to choose a bow and decorate with all natural accents, which is just what we did.

  • Wreath of the Day – Light and Bright

We have a number of customers who need a very lightly colored wreath to show up in a darkened corner or hallway, or under an unlit portico, and this cream, silver, and white creation will do just that.  While we are known for our beautiful natural materials, we do not hesitate to glam it up with sparkles and pearls when needed.

  • Wreath of the Day – We’re Back!

The Garden Club of the Back Bay members and outside volunteers helped make 2016 our most successful Wreath Week ever, both financially and socially.  We all had a great time – even our first time decorators who had to put up with our candid critiques – and not surprisingly are eager to do it again in 2017.  From now through January 1 we will feature a different wreath picture each day, showcasing our versatility and including a tip or anecdote of interest.  We will begin, however, with a classic wreath with red bow and all natural accents, which many of our customers favor.

  • Holiday Wreaths: Planning Ahead

We all know how busy November and December become.  We’re shopping, we’re cooking, perhaps we’re traveling, we’re attending parties, we’re standing in line at the post office – and somewhere in there we are getting a flu shot.  So let’s take some stress out of the equation.  Is there a teacher, a co-worker, a baby sitter, a stylist, a neighbor, who is on your gift list? Let’s send them a lovely wreath with a bow (only $45!) in the beginning of December – you will be the holiday hero (or heroine.) We attach a beautiful gift card and can even deliver it if they live or work in the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, or South End.  Or you may pick it up at The First Lutheran Church of Boston, 299 Berkeley Street, and do the presenting yourself.  Visit https://bostonflora.com/products-page/ to see photographs, and to order online or print an order form.  We are showing a fully decorated wreath ($100) below, in case you decide to splurge.

  • Holiday Wreaths 2016 – Autumn Splendor

Holiday Wreaths 2016 – Autumn Splendor

Once again our Club is gearing up for Wreath Week, December 5 – 8, and with pine cones, nuts, and seed pods available for the taking on the ground, our hunter/gatherers are combing the woods for materials.  We specialize in natural decorations to enhance our basic balsam background, and each decorator takes his or her own path when deciding how to embellish a fully decorated wreath.  Some are minimalists, but many feel the customers deserve their money’s worth and make sure the wreaths are fully festooned.   A few frankly artificial pieces may be incorporated, such as the tiny birds pictured in the detail below, but we strive to be tasteful.  Order your custom wreath online today at www.gardenclubbackbay.org, or print the order form and mail with your check before November 30.
