    The Earth Day 2026 Forum will be hosted by the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay on Wednesday, April 22 from 5 pm – 7:30 pm in Rabb Hall at the Boston Public Library’s main branch in Copley Square.     Berkshire Botanical Garden is celebrating Earth Day!

    Join BBG’s Ron Kujawski on Friday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Stockbridge Library, and receive a bare root tree with instructions on how to plant it in celebration of Earth Day/Arbor Day! Can’t make it on April 25? An additional supply will be available at BBG on Friday, May 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. outside the Education Center at BBG. Trees planted throughout the Berkshires will benefit the earth, our people and our pollinators!

    As we mark the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, BHWOCC, in collaboration with the Conservation Law Foundation, invites you to a special event celebrating and uplifting women of color in the environmental sector.

    Join us on Tuesday, April 22nd, from 6 to 8 PM for an insightful conversation with impactful BHWOCC members who have made significant strides in environmental leadership in Boston.

    Our panel, “Women of Color in Leadership in the Environment,” will bring together voices from across the industry to share experiences, strategies, and reflections on the evolving landscape of green and blue spaces. Together, we’ll explore the future of these industries, the cultural wisdom that shapes our environmental work, and more.   • Thursday, May 6, 5:00 pm – President Biden’s Earth Day Summit: What It Means for Massachusetts, Online

    Climate change was a pillar of President Biden’s 2020 campaign. Since entering the White House, he has already rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement and signed a number of executive agreements to further tackle climate change at home and abroad. On Earth Day, President Biden will hold a Leaders’ Climate Summit with various world leaders led by John Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, to outline emissions reductions, green energy investments and more.

    How will these new commitments impact Massachusetts? Earthwhile reporter Miriam Wasser will moderate a WBUR sponsored virtual panel of local climate experts and answer your questions.

  • Sunday, April 22, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm – Earth Day 2018 Climate Justice and Democracy

    This Earth Day, the Northfield Bird Club will welcome and hear from longtime activist, writer and publisher Iris Morales, who spent many months after the devastating hurricanes hit Puerto Rico working to support communities there. “This critical situation is a defining and turning point in Puerto Rican history. Hurricanes Irma and Maria have laid bare the result of centuries of colonial control, austerity, and exploitation. But people in Puerto Rico are organizing themselves, creating communities of support.” Join them for an evening of exchange and discussion, about our eco-history and the situation in Puerto Rico. The event takes place Sunday, April 22 beginning at 5 pm at the Wendell Town Hall, 6 Center Street in Wendell, Massachusetts, followed by a potluck community supper at 7 pm.

    On Saturday, April 21st, The Blue Hill Observatory will celebrate Earth Day with a fabulous event at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, MA. This is their Annual Fundraiser with all proceeds helping to support work in Weather Data Collection, Climate Research and Environmental Education. They are proud to maintain and continue the longest running homogeneous climate record in North America –133 years– and rely on your support.

    This Gala evening will feature live music from the fabulous Boston Band, “Rolling Who”, buffet dinner and a meet and greet with Boston Broadcast Meteorologists.     Join UMass Amherst Extension Landscape, Nursery & Urban Forestry Program for an Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration with Dr. Michael Dirr. For most people who work with trees, Dr. Michael Dirr needs no introduction. He is the author of numerous books on woody plants that have become staples on our desks. He also has some New England roots, as he earned his PhD from UMass. His fingers are always on the pulse of the nursery industry, scouting for new introductions, and having himself introduced 15 trees into commerce.

    Michael Dirr is the author of seven books, including Manual of Woody Landscape Plants: Their Identification, Ornamental Characteristics, Culture and Propagation and Uses, a widely used and best-selling reference text, Dirr’s Hardy Trees and Shrubs, Hydrangeas for the American Gardener, and Viburnums: Flowering Shrubs for Every Season. A Mercer scholar, Dirr is considered one of the green industry’s most celebrated plant experts. An Emeritus Professor of Horticulture at the University of Georgia, his teaching, lectures, seminars, garden study tours and plant introduction programs have contributed greatly to industry awareness.

    He has established several arboreta, consults on tree selection, and has penned tree guides for many campuses. The green industry has tremendously benefited from his keen interest in evaluating trees and his enthusiasm to share it with us.

    Celebrate Earth Day by joining a group of New England Wild Flower Society volunteers to restore Arthur Morency Woods, a 15-acre parcel of conservation land in Framingham. These “habitat islands” in densely populated areas are of great importance to wildlife. Meet at the Arthur Street Extension in Framingham at 10 AM. Plenty of parking at the entrance on Arthur Street.
