    The Garden Club of the Back Bay Self-Guided Magnolia Tour

    On this self-guided Magnolia Tree Tour, created by The Garden Club of the Back Bay Tree Committee, you’ll walk the length of Commonwealth Avenue, starting at Arlington Street spanning up to Massachusetts Avenue and beyond. Along the way, you’ll learn interesting facts ranging from history, to tree-specific facts, to what our Club’s Tree Committee is currently working on as it relates to these beloved historical trees.

  • Sunday, July 19 – Sunday, July 26 – Esplanade Pollinator BioBlitz

    Discover and identify the pollinators of the Charles River Esplanade by taking part in the Esplanade Pollinator BioBlitz from July 19 to July 26. The Esplanade Pollinator BioBlitz encourages individuals to explore the Esplanade and document different species of pollinators they find through the iNaturalist app or in a journal. Participants who register via eventbrite will also receive a Virtual BioBlitz Activity Packet with worksheets, coloring sheets, and a map of the Esplanade.

  • Saturday, June 8, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm – Talk and Taste: Cooking with Strawberries

    Tufts University, in partnership with the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, will present Talk and Taste: Cooking with Strawberries, a lecture on the health benefits of strawberries, preparation of berry salad (wheatberries, strawberries and balsamic), gardening tips, and tasting, on Saturday, June 8, from 2 – 3:30 at the Jean Mayer USDA HNRCA at Tufts University, Mezzanine Level, 711 Washington Street in Boston.  Registration is limited to 70 people on EventBrite (search for Talk and Taste).  The event features Dr. Barbara Shukitt-Hale, Research Psychologist, USDA, Tim Nourse of Nourse Berry Farms in Whately, Massachusetts, and Rolando Robledo, Chef at Clover Food Lab in Boston.  Event includes a prize drawing.
