    As many of you know Festival of Trees will look different than in years past, we will be offering reserved, timed ticket entry limited to 22 guests for each session. With complimentary hot chocolate in hand, a dedicated tour leader will escort each group through Snow Village, TWO rooms of beautiful and whimsical holiday trees, and send you to the fire pits with packaged s’mores to roast at the end of the visit. Visits are limited to 1.5 – 2 hours to help ensure safe numbers and minimal interactions.  Your tour will not mix with other guests outside of your time slot so you can book with confidence that you will never be part of a large crowd. To give you a safe and secure experience tickets are extremely limited and we expect to sell out early.  As always, we will still raffle the trees off on the final Sunday, so come prepared to choose your favorites! We will open at 10am on November 27th and run Wednesday to Sunday, ending on December 20th. Advanced purchase of timed tickets is required for both Mass Hort members and general admission.     Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Festival of Trees showcases dozens of trees and the Snow Village at Elm Bank for children and adults to enjoy. This annual festival takes place from the end of November through the first two weeks of December at Mass Hort’s The Gardens at Elm Bank, 900 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482.

    The Festival of Trees, displayed in the Hunnewell Building, offers beautifully decorated holiday trees that are donated and decorated by local businesses, garden clubs, and individuals. Visitors “vote” with their raffle tickets, in hopes of being the tree winner at the end of the festival. Visitors can also enjoy the decorated buildings and grounds at The Gardens at Elm Bank with a stroll. For the young at heart, there are Santa Visits and other activities.

    Snow Village at Elm Bank is a wonderful addition to the holiday spirit of the Festival of Trees. Bill Meagher of Needham graciously donated the product of his thirteen year “hobby” of building Christmas villages and trains. It is a bit different each year as he continues to tweak the arrangement. Massachusetts Horticultural Society is delighted to share his enchanting displays with model trains winding through villages and vignettes, including Christmas in the City (Boston of course!), Fenway Park, and hundreds of decorated houses and lights. This amazing scenery in miniature is sure to get kids of all ages excited about the holiday season.

    Admission is $10 for visitors aged 12 and over, and Member admission is $8. Join Mass Hort at the Festival and get in free! The Festival is open November 23 through December 9, weather permitting: Wednesdays and Thursdays 4 – 8 p.m.; Friday through Sunday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Sunday December 9 until 6 p.m.; Monday through Thursday mornings, by appointment, for senior group visits; Monday and Tuesday evenings, by appointment, for corporate events.

    The Festival of Trees is a holiday fundraiser for Mass Hort, a 501(c)(3) educational organization.

  • Friday, December 11- Sunday, December 13 – MetroWest Festival of Trees

    The 2015 MetroWest Festival of Trees will be held December 11, 5 – 9, December 12, 10 – 9, and December 13, 10 – 5, at the Best Western Royal Plaza Trade Center on Route 20 West in Marlborough, Massachusetts. What started eight years ago as a small “Christmas at the Farm”, Festival of Trees at the Marlborough Historical Society’s 1688 Peter Rice Homestead with 17 trees has evolved into one of the premier Holiday events in the Metro West & Central Mass area! From 17 to 40 trees in the second year, to 60 trees in the third, and the introduction of animated figures from Edaville RR, to 125 trees and wreaths. Our attendance has continually grown with over 4,000 persons attending from 100 different communities and 13 states.

    Now entering our eighth year, we have expanded and bringing the Festival to a higher level, by producing it for the third year in a row at the 47,500 sq. ft. Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough and expect to have 5,000 people attending. Adults $8, Seniors and children $5, children under 5 free.   • Thursday, December 11, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Festival of Trees Ornament Workshop

    As part of its Festival of Trees Celebration, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society is offering this hands-on workshop to create three different star ornaments to take home for the holiday season. Stars will be made of aluminum, straw and paper. It’s easier than you think, and lots of fun! Workshop is suitable for adults. They recommend an apron and clothes suitable for working with glue and paint. The workshop takes place Thursday, December 11, from 6:30 – 8:30 at Elm Bank, 900 Washington Street in Wellesley.

This annual festival, in its sixth year, will take place from November 28 until December 14, at Mass Hort’s Elm Bank property, 900 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482.

    The Festival of Trees, displayed in the Hunnewell Carriage House, offers beautifully decorated holiday trees that are donated and decorated by local businesses, garden clubs, and individuals.   • Saturday, December 14, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon – Tropical Terrarium Workshop

    Art Scarpa is a busy man. As part of its Festival of Trees Celebration Mass Hort is offering this hands-on workshop to create a glass tropical terrarium with lid to give as a gift or to keep for your own home.

    You will be making a 2-gal. round glass terrarium with lid. Included in fee are up to five miniature tropical plants, soil mix, charcoal, pea stone top dressing and decorative stones for landscaping. All necessary tools are provided. The terrarium will be suitable for an east or north window exposure with bright natural light- no direct sunshine needed – or you may choose to grow under fluorescent lights.

    Art Scarpa is known for his expertise in growing succulents and for his love for unusual plants, is certified as a judge by the Cactus and Succulent Society of America and has competed and judged at numerous major shows, including Boston, Newport and Philadelphia and many regional cactus and succulent shows. Art is also a 2013 Mass Hort Gold Medal recipient.

    Saturday, December 7, 10:00 am – Holiday Wreath Workshop

    As part of Elm Bank’s Festival of Trees Celebration, Mass Hort is offering this hands-on workshop on Saturday, December 7, beginning at 10 am, to create beautiful wreaths and swags to take home for the holiday season. Marisa McCoy will lead participants in design, choice of materials, and wreath composition. Through her vast depth of experience and under her gentle guidance you will create a wreath that appeals to your own design and color sense and one which you will be proud to display for the world to see.

    Marisa is a Nationally Accredited Master Flower Show Judge, and the current President Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts. Marisa is also a floral design instructor, garden club speaker, active member of the MFA Senior Associates, and a custom wedding and special occasion floral designer.
