    The Iris Society of Massachusetts is holding a rhizome sale on Saturday, July 30, from 11 – 4, at Verrill Farm, on Wheeler Road in Concord, Massachusetts. The plants are donated by members and are ones that thrive in our region. You can choose from a variety of bearded irises, Siberians, and others.  Now is a perfect time to plant irises! Come early for the best selection of plants.   • Saturday, October 16, 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm – Harvest Festival & Benefit for Emerson Hospital Pediatric Care

    Verrill Farms hosts an afternoon of family fun in the fields beside the farm stand at 11 Wheeler Road in Concord on Saturday, October 16, from noon – 4 pm.  There will be games, a raffle, clown and face painting, Giddy Up Pony rides, hay rides, live music by Back Eddy Blue Grass, and food available a la carte, all a benefit for the Emerson Hospital Pediatric Care center.  For more information log on to www.verrillfarm.com.

    Verrill Farm will host a one day only Corn & Tomato Festival this year on Saturday, August 21, from 11 – 4, at 11 Wheeler Road in Concord.  A celebration of freshly harvested Verrill Farm grown tomatoes (over 30 varieties) and corn (8 – 10 varieties), the event includes unlimited corn and tomato samples and tastings of corn and tomato dishes made in the farm stand kitchen.  There will be hot dogs, hamburgers & beverages available a la carte, live music by Monadnock Bluegrass, Giddy Up Pony rides, and hayrides.  $8.50 per person, $4.50 for kids under 10.  Log on to www.verrillfarm.com for more information and directions.

  • Thursday, August 5, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm – From Field to Fork – A Summer Crop Dinner

    On Thursday, August 5, from 6 – 8, Verrill Farm chefs will prepare a meal inspired by just picked crops.  The dinner will be served outside under tents, and the cost is $30 per person.  Registration and prepayment is required by calling 978-369-4494.

  • Saturday, July 31, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Iris Rhizome Sale

    A large selection of iris rhizomes grown in the gardens of members of the Iris Society of Massachusetts will be offered for sale on Saturday, July 31, from 10 – 4, at Verrill Farm, located at the corner of Sudbury and Wheeler Roads in Concord, Massachusetts.  The irises are hardy in New England, and some of the member hybridizers are nationally recognized.  Some of their prize irises will be for sale, and there will be demonstrations during the day on dividing and planting irises, plus information sheets on their cultivation.  Contact Barbara Schmieder at 978-369-3383 for additional information, or email dotmac@verizon.net.

    It’s blueberry season, and Verrill Farm, 11 Wheeler Road in Concord,  is hosting a morning of blueberry madness on Saturday, July 17, from 9 am – noon.  Breakfast includes blueberry pancakes, Massachusetts maple syrup, bacon or sausage, juice, milk or coffee.  At 11:00 am there will be a blueberry pie eating contest, no fee to enter (perhaps you’d pay not to enter.)  Music is provided by The Yankee Stompers.  $7 for adults, $4.50 for kids under 10.  Log on to www.verrillfarm.com for more information.

  • Saturday, May 29, 11:00 am – Asparagus Festival

    On Saturday, May 29, beginning at 11 am at Verrill Farm, 11 Wheeler Road in Concord, Massachusetts, Steve Verrill will lead a trip into the asparagus field, followed by a buffet lunch under the tent featuring dishes made with asparagus.  Chef Kevin Carey gives tips on preparing and cooking asparagus, and everyone leaves with, you guessed it, a bunch of Verrill Farm asparagus.  $25 per person, and reservations and prepayment are required by May 28.  Call 978-369-4494 to sign up and get directions.
