  • Wednesday, February 5, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Beyond the Ballot: Climate Change and Sustainability

    Join Generation Citizen’s Massachusetts on February 5 for Beyond the Ballot: Climate Change and Sustainability, an evening of civic engagement featuring cocktails and conversation, a dynamic panel discussion, and ideas for action. The event begins at 6 pm at the offices of TripAdvisor, 226 Causeway Street, 2nd floor, Boston, and light appetizers will be served, along with cash bar. Featured on the panel are Michael Nichols, Executive Director of the Esplanade Association, Jayden Khatib, advocate with Sunrise Movement, Joel Simonson, Development Officer for Lovin’ Spoonfuls, and Yael Nidam, Research Manager, MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning. Hosted by Generation Citizen’s Associate Board of Young Professionals, Beyond the Ballot is an annual event that creates an opportunity to learn more about local issues and how to go beyond the ballot and take action in our communities.   • Wednesday, August 28, 8:00 am – 9:30 am – Guided Bird Walk on the Esplanade

    The Esplanade Association, in partnership with Feminist Bird Club, will be leading a leisurely guided bird walk along the park on Wednesday, August 28 at 8:00 am. This event will be great for beginners and experts alike. We will walk around 1 mile, identifying birds and learning how to use binoculars and field guides. The Esplanade is home to a variety of species from songbirds to waterfowl. No prior birding experience is necessary and everyone is welcome. Jumpstart your day with some birding!   • Saturday, September 14, 9:00 pm – midnight – Moondance After Dark

    Held under clear tents on the banks of the Charles River, the Esplanade Association invites you to join them on September 14 at 9 pm for Moondance After Dark.

    Moondance After Dark invites over 250 of Boston’s young professionals and emerging influencers to experience the Moondance Gala after-party. Guests enjoy cocktails, late night bites, dessert, and dancing alongside the twilight riverfront.

    This unique and stylish event is unlike anything else you can experience in Boston. Enjoy an amazing night of socializing, dancing, and celebrating the Park!

    Co-hosted by Sophia D’Angelo and Shannon & Aengus McAllister. Tickets are $150 ($125 for Esplanade Association members) and may be purchased at www.moondancegala.org.

  • Thursday, July 18, 6:30 pm – 10:30 pm – 9th Annual Summer Dock Party

    Set against the incomparable backdrop of the Charles River at sunset, the 9th Annual Summer Dock Party has become a social highlight for young Bostonians. Over 200 guests will enjoy a sunset dinner and drinks followed by dessert and dancing on the docks.  The funds raised at this year’s event support the Esplanade Association’s work to care for and maintain the park, while providing the community with free summer programming.

  • Wednesday, June 12, 10:00 am – 11:30 am – Guided Garden Tour on the Esplanade

    On this Esplanade Association tour, we will share the amazing gardens that make the Esplanade so beautiful. Come learn about the history and plants that make up six of the Esplanade’s 13 ornamental gardens. Guided walking tours last about an hour-and-a-half and cover about a mile of the Esplanade. The June 12 tour begins at 10:00 am at Community Boating , 21 David G. Mugar Way in Boston, and is free.   • Saturday, May 4, 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm – Kentucky Dog Derby

    Celebrate the Kentucky Derby in style with your pooch at the Esplanade on Saturday, May 4 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.

    The Kentucky Dog Derby is a 1/2-mile parade around Fiedler Field, hosted by the Esplanade Association, to benefit the park, highlighting it as a resource for dog owners while celebrating the arrival of spring. In addition to the parade, there will be a variety of games, demos, and giveaways for attendees to enjoy, as well as goody bags for all attendees.


    We encourage both you and your dog to wear your Derby finest (bow ties, hats, sundresses, florals, and more) – there will be prizes for both best-dressed pup and for human/dog duet!   • Thursday, April 4, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Tory Burch Esplanade Association Benefit

    We hope you will join The Esplanade Association on April 4 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for an evening celebrating the Esplanade. This closed-door event at Tory Burch in Copley Place is hosted by Jessica Crimmins, an Esplanade Association Board Member.     There are countless stories behind Boston’s most iconic park and The Esplanade Association wants to share them with you! The Esplanade Association’s free guided history tours will walk participants through the fascinating history of the Esplanade. Meet at Community Boating Inc., 21 David G Mugar Way The guided tours last about an hour-and-a-half and cover roughly a mile of the Esplanade and over 150 years of history.   • Registration Open for Esplanade Association Group/Corporate Volunteers

    Bring your company’s employees to volunteer on the Esplanade as part of our award-winning Volunteer Program!

    Volunteering with the Esplanade Association is a great way to build your team while participating in a visible corporate philanthropic effort to benefit a local nonprofit. Volunteers report a sense of pride caring for a public space that they are likely to return to with friends and family.

    If you are interested in scheduling a separate volunteer opportunity on the Esplanade, please email Micah Jasny, Stewardship Manager (mjasny@esplanade.org)
    Activities May Include:

    Painting benches or fencing
    Planting new gardens and bulbs
    Removing invasive plants or weeds
    Sweeping park pathways
    Mulching
    Raking leaves

    Scheduling and Time Commitment

    A minimum of 15 confirmed participants is required to set up a group day. Please email us to inquire about hosting groups larger than 100 people.
    Volunteer days are three hours long (longer by request)
    Volunteer days are typically scheduled for Tuesday or Thursday (others by request)
    During winter and late fall, we will continue to schedule volunteers at the park as long as the weather is favorable.
    Each group is required to designate one or more volunteer leaders from their group who will be present during the event to assist with coordination.

  • Sunday, February 10, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Team Esplanade Marathon Fundraiser

    Join supporters of The Esplanade Association at The Point in Boston’s historic Haymarket Square on February 10 from 1 – 5 to celebrate the 15 runners on the Esplanade Association’s 2019 Boston Marathon® Team.

    Your ticket ($25) will include food. You will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win incredible prizes like a stay at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, SoulCycle classes, a gift card to Chestnut Farm, a gift card to Heartbreak Hill, rock climbing passes, and much more! All funds raised at this event will support the Esplanade Association’s 2019 Boston Marathon® Team.

    TEAM ESPLANADE runners will play a part in Boston’s proudest sporting tradition by generously running the 2019 Boston Marathon® in support of the Esplanade Association. Through their passion and dedication, TEAM ESPLANADE will help us maintain and improve Boston’s iconic riverside park—a beloved training route for thousands of Marathon runners each year!
