  • Tuesday, May 2, 6:00 pm – Esplanade Association’s 16th Annual Meeting

    The Esplanade Association will be hosting their 16th Annual Meeting on Tuesday evening, May 2nd at the Algonquin Club in Boston. The public is invited to attend the meeting at which the organization will share what they have accomplished over the past year in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, and what they have planned for 2017 as they continue their mission to make life better on the Charles River Esplanade.

    The evening will also feature guest speaker, John Alschuler, Chairman at HR&A Advisors, an internationally recognized multidisciplinary firm focused on increasing the vitality of urban life. Also, Mr. Alschuler is Emeritus Chair of the Friends of the High Line. Since founding the New York office of HR&A in 1984, he has developed bold plans that have reshaped waterfronts, downtown districts and neighborhoods. Specifically, in Boston, HR&A is the lead consultant for Imagine Boston 2030 and is playing an influential role in the Barr Foundation’s work on Boston’s Harbor. As a part of the Annual Meeting, Mr. Alschuler will speak about the significant relationship between parks and city life, as well as public-private partnerships, which is a topic that is very relevant to the Esplanade Association.

  • Thursday, May 18, 6:30 pm – Esplanade 5K

    On the evening of Thursday, May 18th, the Esplanade Association will host the Esplanade 5K race along the beautiful pathways of the Charles River Esplanade.

    The Esplanade 5K will be open to runners of all abilities and will include prizes, give-aways, refreshments, and more . The race will start and end at Fiedler Field and loop along the Boston side of the Charles River Esplanade, allowing runners to enjoy sunset views of the park.

    Participants are welcome to bring their dogs to run too!  Proceeds from this event will benefit the Esplanade Association’s work to care for and improve the park.

  • Garden Club of the Back Bay Member Alexi Conine Named Board Chair of Esplanade Association

  • Sunday, October 23, 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm – 6th Annual Canine Promenade

    Join the Esplanade Association on Sunday, October 23 from 12 – 2 on the Charles River Esplanade, on Fiedler Field, for the 6th Annual Canine Promenade. The Canine Promenade is a 1/2‐mile Halloween costume parade around the Esplanade to benefit the park, highlight the park as a resource for dog owners and to raise awareness about park improvements. In the spirit of the season, we encourage you to dress up your dogs (and yourself) in costume.

    This year we are thrilled that the funds from the Canine Promenade will support the Esplanade Association’s work to restore the Lotta Fountain as a destination for park dogs and their owners!     On Saturday, September 24th, the Esplanade Friends Council invites you to join us for Moondance After Dark. Saturday, September 24th from 9:00PM – Midnight. Held under white tents on the bank of the Charles River. Ticket includes admission, open bar, hors d’oeuvre, and desserts. Tickets are $150 until August 31st. Price increases to $175 September 1st. Purchase online at www.esplanadeassociation.org. All proceeds benefit the Esplanade Association’s work to restore, manage and enhance the Charles River Esplanade for the enjoyment of all.

    The 15th Annual Meeting of The Esplanade Association will take place Monday, April 11, from 6 – 8 at the Hampshire House, 84 Beacon Street in Boston.  The guest speaker will be Leo Roy, Commissioner of the DCR.  Attendance is free, but registration is requested by visiting http://www.esplanadeassociation.org/5592/annualmeeting/

  • Gardener Assistant Program on the Esplanade

    The Esplanade Association will begin its Gardener Assistant Program, which is an 8 week program (May 3 – June 21)  to get recurring volunteers out during the months of May and June to help out the Esplanade Association’s Horticulture staff in gardening and horticulture needs. The activities will run from 10:00am-12:00pm, and tasks will include weeding, mulching, dead-heading and more.

    The Association will be holding in-person interviews starting in April to gauge volunteer interest and commitment. Prior gardening experience is preferred.

    The Esplanade Association invites you to the Moondance Gala on the banks of the Charles River Saturday, September 26, with cocktails at 6:30, gala dinner and live auction at 7:30, followed by dessert and dancing.  This black tie event has limited tickets available at $1,000 per person, with sponsorship opportunities ranging from $3,000 to $25,000, all to make life better in the park, from the ground up.  The response date is September 4, and you may reserve by calling 617-227-0365, ext. 102, or emailing info@esplanadeassociation.org.

    On Thursday, July 16th, the Esplanade Friends Council will host the 5th annual Esplanade Summer Dock Party from 7:00—10:00pm on the Docks at Community Boating Inc. Over the past four years the Dock Party has become a Boston social calendar staple and has sold out weeks in advance.

    This year’s event will include dinner, dessert, beer from Sam Adams, and a special summer wine selection. Don’t miss your chance to join us this year for a fantastic night of dinner, drinks and dancing on the docks. The funds raised at this event are critical to our organization’s ability to fund important park improvements and community enriching programs for the enjoyment of the park’s millions of visitors.

    Chance to Win – For only $20 a ticket you will have the chance to win one or more of our amazing prize packages including 2 round trip tickets from JetBlue. Attire is casual. Casual summer/boating attire is welcome. Ladies, please refrain from wearing thin heels that can get stuck between the dock platforms. Sandals, wedges, and thick heels are recommended.
