Saturday, September 23, 6:30 pm – Moondance Gala

On Saturday, September 23th, 2017, the Esplanade Association will host its annual Moondance Gala. Beginning at 6:30PM, this magical evening on the park will host over 500 of Boston’s leaders in business, politics, and philanthropy to come together to socialize, celebrate, and support our public park.

Last year, the Moondance Gala raised over $900,000 for the Esplanade Association and our work to maintain and care for the Charles River Esplanade. As an independent nonprofit organization, the funds raised at the gala are critical to our organization’s work to revitalize and enhance the Charles River Esplanade, sustain the natural green space, and build community by providing educational, cultural, and recreational programs for everyone!

The Esplanade Association is thrilled to have Jean and Christopher Egan along with Lori and Matthew Sidman as the 2017 Moondance Gala Committee Chairs.

Inspired by the bright stars in the night sky, this year’s Moondance Gala will sparkle with decor by Marc Hall Designs, all set within the beauty of the park’s majestic trees. With the sublime views of the setting sun over the Charles River, guests will enjoy inspired cocktails followed by an elegant seasonal dinner by Max Ultimate Food, and then will continue the sparkling celebration late into the night with music and dancing. As the only tented black-tie event held on the Esplanade, it is like no other. The evening brings together the Boston community and beyond to celebrate this tremendous treasure and lend support to the Esplanade Association’s continued growth and vibrant future.

  • Wednesday, August 16 – Friday, September 1 – Volunteer Opportunity: Public Art on the Esplanade

Help enliven a Boston landmark by taking part in the creation of an exciting new public art piece. The Esplanade Association has commissioned a mural along the Charles River Esplanade, and is partnering with Now + There to produce the work. As we await final approvals, we need to recruit volunteers to help us during the painting phase of the project.

Volunteering will take place on the mural site on the Esplanade (to be revealed soon). Volunteer duties include ensuring brushes and other materials are clean and organized, running water to the site, providing general information to passers-by, and flagging pedestrian traffic to ensure that work is completed in a safe and timely manner. There is also an opportunity to help out at an upcoming community mural painting day.

Now + There is looking to schedule at least two volunteers on site during all painting days, which are schedule to run August 16 to September 1st. There will be two three-hour volunteer shifts per day, running from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Volunteers should be comfortable interfacing with the public, and should be able to stand outdoors for three hours at a time. Some moderate lifting may be required of volunteers who help with materials.

This is a great opportunity to work with a talented local artist and help the Esplanade Association and Now + There bring more vibrant public art to Boston. Sign up at http://www.nowandthere.org/esplanade-volunteering?mc_cid=95385b6198&mc_eid=995cffa160
