    March 27 is the deadline to sign up for a Tower Hill Botanic Garden workshop on Garden-Inspired Table Decor, to be held Saturday, April 1 from 2 – 4 at the garden located at 11 French Drive in Boylston. Create and take home a simple arrangement to enhance your table and watch while we style garden-inspired everyday and wedding tablescapes. From the colors and textures to arrangements and place settings we will teach you how to entertain with fresh, organic items that will make your guests swoon and bring a lush garden feel to any event.     Monday, February 13, 9:30 am – 11:30 am – Flower Arranging with Donna Morrissey

    The Garden Club of the Back Bay has added a special workshop to its 2017 program schedule.  Member Donna Morrissey, an award winning flower arranger, graciously has agreed to teach a hands-on workshop on Monday, February 13 beginning at 9:30 am at The First Lutheran Church of Boston, 299 Berkeley Street.  So that Donna can give each participant guidance and valuable critiques, the class must be limited in size to twenty members.  The materials cost will be $35 per person, vases provided.  However, if you are just interested in watching the process and listening to Donna’s advice, you may “audit” for $5.  Light refreshments will be served.  Please email slgsmith58@gmail.com if you plan to attend, and you will be sent information on suggested equipment to bring with you, and information on payment.     On Sunday, November 20 from 1:30 – 3, instructor LauraJean Pecci of LJ Floral & Event Design, Cambridge, Massachusetts, will lead a Tower Hill Botanic Garden workshop.     Join the Massachusetts Horticultural Society on Thursday, November 17 from 1 – 3 at Elm Bank, 900 Washington Street for a workshop on The Festive Table with Betsy Williams, just in time for your Thanksgiving and holiday entertaining. Betsy Williams teaches, lectures and writes about living with herbs and flowers. A life long gardener, herb grower and cook, Betsy trained as a florist in Boston and England. She combines her floral, gardening and cooking skills with an extensive knowledge of history, plant lore and seasonal celebrations. An entertaining lecturer, she weaves stories and legends throughout her informative talks and demonstrations.

    She has presented at Monticello, The American Horticultural Society’s Youth Symposium, the Pennsylvania Lavender Festival and International Herb Association as well as Colonial Williamsburg, the Ozark Folk Center and the New England, Rhode Island and Cincinnati Flower Shows. $25 for Mass Hort members, $40 for nonmembers.  Register at http://www.masshort.org/adult-education

  • Thursday, September 1, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon – Ariella Chezar: The Flower Workshop

    Join nationally recognized floral artist Ariella Chezar for an inspiring and informative Berkshire Botanical Garden program on flower arranging. The program will take place at Zonneveld Farm in Columbia County, NY, where Ariella will lead a tour of her cut-flower farm. She will demonstrate how to condition and arrange freshly cut flowers in the wild and unstructured style for which she is know. Using information from her latest book, The Flower Workshop, Ariella will lead participants through the basics of flower arranging. Following the walk, talk, and flower-arranging demonstration, she will sell and sign her inspiring new book.

    Ariella Chezar is best known for a free flowing, wild style and has championed this growing trend in flower arranging. In 2014 she started Zonneveld Farm where she cultivates much of what she uses for her arrangements and workshops. Ariella’s flowers are sustainably grown, and she is committed to using organic techniques on her farm.

    On Saturday, August 27, beginning at 10:30 am, fill a graceful glass vase with an abundant, naturalistic bouquet of lovely, freshly harvested, and locally sourced Slow Flowers. Slow Flowers are local, sustainably-grown flowers that are pollinator friendly and enjoyed in season. Gathered from the garden and the wayside or purchased at a near-by farm stand, Slow Flowers bring long-lasting natural beauty and delicate fragrance into your home. Learn when and how to cut garden and wayside flowers for arranging, which nectar rich herbal flowers add color and fragrance to seasonal bouquets and how to condition freshly picked stems for lasting beauty. Then, create your own personal, gardenesque bouquet to take home with you!

  • Saturday and Sunday, August 13 – 14 – 46th Annual Grow Show

    The Berkshire Botanical Garden’s Grow Show will be held on August 13th and 14th, 2016. The show ties into this year’s exhibition at the Garden: Benched: Come Take A Seat in the Garden. The six flower arranging categories will focus on the idea of Sit A Spell, with each category being themed a relaxed, daydream-like state as its inspiration. These cues, taken from everything from sitting on a Chinese garden stool and rustic twig benches to a backyard bench and a view from the window into the wilds behind will serve as themes for the flower arranging categories.
