  • Thursday, September 16, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon – Chrysanthemum Planting in Chinatown Park

    On the morning of Thursday September 16, from 9 – 12,  the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy’s Horticulture Team will be planting chrysanthemums in Chinatown Park, and they invite all interested volunteers to help us add color and seasonal interest to the park.   • Through September 4, 12:00 noon – 8:00 pm – The Big Hammock

    An 8′ by 38′ hand-woven piece of interactive art, designed by architect Hansy Better Barazza, will be hanging around the Rose Kennedy Greenway now through September 4.  The exact location is Fort Point Channel Parks, North (between Seaport Boulevard and Pearl Street).  Viewing is free.  You may see and read more about the project on the Big Hammock website, www.thebighammock.org.

  • Tuesday, August 10, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm – Urban Arboretum Tree Walk

    Join the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy on Tuesday, August 10 for the next installment of the Greenway’s Horticulture Series: Urban Arboretum Tree Walk.  come along this walk to learn about sizes, blooms, and leaf shapes that one can enjoy in the park, or plant at home.  Assemble at the Greenway Tent, at Dewey Square, near the South Station MBTA.  Free.  For more information, log on to www.rosekennedygreenway.org.

  • Thursday, July 29, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Bikes@Night

    Join the Boston Preservation Alliance members as they team up with Urban AdvenTours to ride the night away and explore Boston on two wheels.  The Bikes@Night tour will show you the city as the sun goes down and the lights come up, focusing on Boston’s beautiful and historic waterfront. Watch the sun set over Boston Harbor, hear about architecture and history, and enjoy a delightful summer night in Boston.  The ride will include:
    • Long Wharf: once the busiest pier in the busiest port in America during early colonial times and now home to the New England Aquarium.
    • The Rose Kennedy Greenway: the 1.5-mile-long long series of parks and public spaces that now exists where the elevated Central Artery once stood.
    • Fan Pier: the historic location of railway lines that linked Boston to the rest of the country and where you can now take in the modern architecture of the Institute of Contemporary Art and the Moakley Court House.
    • The North End: the city’s oldest residential community full of late 19th and early 20th century architecture (and arguably the best restaurants!)

    Ride departs from Urban AdvenTours, 103 Atlantic Avenue and participants should arrive by 5:30 p.m. for a 6 p.m. departure.  Cost: This event is $30 for Alliance members/$37 for non-members and includes: bike, helmet, water bottle, and tour guide.   • Saturday, July 3, 10:00 am – Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Walk

    In celebration of Boston’s rich history and in partnership with the Boston Women’s Heritage Trail, the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy will offer an all-ages tour on July 3rd that commemorates the life and legacy of Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. Starting at 10 AM on the Mother’s Walk in the park between Milk and State Streets, the tour weaves through parts of the North End and ends at the Rose F. Kennedy Rose Garden, where adults and children alike are encouraged to stop and smell the roses.

  • Saturday, April 24, 9:30 am – 10:30 am – From Chinatown to the Sea

    Join the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy and the Island Alliance for a free walking tour of the Greenway in Chinatown, ending at Long Wharf North, on Saturday, April 24, beginning at 9:30 am, and experience the connection to the sea that is now possible.  Meet at the old Chinatown Gate in Chinatown Park, near Hudson Street.  This event is free.  For more information, log on to www.rosekennedygreenway.org.

  • Volunteer Opportunity at the Rose Kennedy Greenway

    Volunteer Horticulture Opportunities occur at the Rose Kennedy Greenway about once a month.   • Wednesday, September 9, 5 – 6 pm – Managing the Garden Organically

    Boston’s newest park, the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway, is blooming thanks to careful organic maintenance by the park’s stewards, the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway Conservancy.   • Tuesday, September 1, 1:00 pm – Nordic Pole Walking on the Rose Kennedy Greenway

    The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy brings you a free 12-week instruction in Nordic Pole Walking, designed to achieve a low-impact, full body workout for all levels of fitness, health, and experience. Specially designed poles involve the arms, activate the upper body and achieve a total body workout with significant health and fitness benefits. Nordic Pole Walking is beneficial to opening up hunched postures and loosening tight shoulders developed from tension and poor working conditions. Instruction and equipment are free. Every Tuesday at noon on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Meet on the Wharf District Parks across from the Rowes Wharf. Walking sites may change. Check www.hellogreenway.org for more details on walking.

  • Wednesday, August 12, 5 – 7 pm – Family Games on the Rose Kennedy Greenway

    Residents and neighbors of the North End and Chinatown are invited to bring their families and friends every Wednesday night for “Family Games”, a night of free games in the North End Parks and Chinatown Park on the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway. Together with athletic programming provider, Knuckle Bones, the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway Conservancy will host favorite traditional and non-traditional games like bocce, Chinese yoyo, lawn tennis, jump rope, koob and more.
    No reservations are required. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner. This event is rain or shine; event will be canceled in case of heavy rain.  For more information, log on to www.hellogreenway.org.
