    This year, Farmer Scott’s Heirloom Tomato Plant Sale at Gore Place will be held in person. Fill your garden with vegetable transplants, grown on the Farm at Gore Place. Choose from a wide variety of hard-to-find heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, herbs, and marigolds. These are all beautiful transplants, ready for your garden.

  • Sunday, January 18, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Regency Fashion Talk: Dressing for the Ball

    Step back in time and discover how fashionable ladies of the early 1800s prepared for an evening of elegance. Costume historian and dressmaker Carrie Midura will present an engaging, interactive look at the many layers of Regency ball attire—from corsets and garters to reticules and turbans. See how each garment played a role in achieving the graceful silhouettes of the era and learn fascinating details about style, status, and social customs.

    Whether you’re planning to attend the upcoming Regency Ball at Gore Place or simply love historical fashion, this January 18 presentation at Gore Place will provide inspiration and insight into the world of early nineteenth-century elegance.

  • Sunday, November 9, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Handmade for the Holidays

    Handmade for the Holidays is back at Gore Place, 52 Gore Street in Waltham. Join your fellow shoppers in our Tent and Carriage House for a crafts fair of local, handmade goods.

    The market is free and open to the public. You can get your holiday shopping done early and feel good about supporting local artisans. And while you’re here, you can stroll the grounds of our beautiful 19th-century estate and visit the heritage breed sheep.

  • Friday, May 16 – Sunday, May 18 – Plant Sale Weekend at The Farm at Gore Place

    Fill your garden with vegetable transplants, locally grown on the Farm at Gore Place. Choose from many varieties of hard-to-find heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, as well as peppers, eggplants, and herbs. Back this year: customer-favorite marigolds! This year’s sale takes place in-person, on-site at our Farm; there will be no online sales this year. The dates and times are May 16, 9 – 3, May 17, 9 – 5, and May 18, 9 – 12.

    It’s not just the great plants that make this sale special: Farmer Scott has been growing vegetables for almost 50 years. He has deep knowledge of these varieties and is onsite and ready to share! According to Scott, “We get lots of return customers.   • Thursday, October 17, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Pumpkin Centerpieces

    Join us at Gore Place in Watertown on the evening of Thursday, October 17, 6:30 – 8:30, to create a seasonal centerpiece. Using pumpkins, succulents, moss, and ribbons, we will guide participants through the process of creating a beautiful display piece that can transition from the fall to the winter season.

    After you finish your centerpiece, you’ll have the chance to make two other cute pumpkin decorations, one using mason jar lids and the other plaid fabric. All supplies will be provided. Participants will take home at least one large centerpiece and may also have to chance to make mini versions as well!

  • Sunday, October 6, 4:30 pm – Gore Place Farm to Table Dinner

    Join friends and family on October 6 starting at 4:30 for a farm-to-table meal featuring lamb and vegetables grown at Gore Place, and supplemented with other locally grown fruits, vegetables, and cheeses. During this event, we will highlight the Farm’s work and celebrate the end of the summer season with music, food, special cocktails, and local beer.

    This event will take place on the North Lawn at Gore Place. If it rains, we will move to our spacious and modern Event Tent.

  • Saturday, April 27, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, rain or shine – Sheepshearing Festival at Gore Place

    Since 1987, this annual event has entertained guests with music, 100+ craft and fiber artists, demonstrations of traditional shearing and herding dogs, and historic re-enactors on the beautiful grounds of this historic, 50-acre estate in Waltham. According to Executive Director and festival organizer Susan Robertson, “We’re proud that the Sheepshearing Festival has become a New England spring tradition for so many.     Calling all volunteers! Whether you are a longtime friend of Gore Place or a brand new volunteer, we welcome all to be a part of this special springtime tradition.
